When nutritional scientists and experts started researching the causes of America's Killer Diseases, (heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, Alzheimer's disease, etc.), the evidence was clear, our diet was killing us. However, at the time, most doctors did not want to "believe" the evidence that was put in front of them....how could this be? How could our beloved diet be killing us? Well, it turns out that's exactly what was happening and still is.
Based on the scientific evidence placed in front of them, some doctors started aggressively practicing medicine by dramatically changing their patient's dietary habits. What happened? Nothing short of amazing....their patients with heart disease started reversing the damage that was done AND HEALED themselves.....their diet didn't just "treat" the symptoms, their diet CURED the problem. Cured it.....no pill can cure anything!!
Unfortunately, physicians just are not well educated on nutrition....their focus in med school was to diagnose a disease and prescribe the drug to "treat" the problem. Doctors only received 4-5 hours of nutritional education, the entire time they were in med school....4-6 hours...that's it!! A patient visits the doctor, has bloods drawn, realizes their cholesterol is high, (the majority of patient's cholesterol is above "normal"), and the doctor hands them a prescription for a cholesterol-lowering drug and says, "Watch your diet". Period. Not to mention, a "normal cholesterol" in a society where it's "normal" to diet of a heart attack is not necessarily a good thing.
It's time consuming for a doctor to sit down with a patient and teach them what foods they should be eating and what foods they should be avoiding. In order to bring down cholesterol levels WITHOUT THE USE OF A DRUG, (that has multiple side effects, including damage to the liver and muscles), patient's diets need to be DRAMATICALLY changed....not just "cut back" on the three places cholesterol comes from...meat, dairy and oils. Cutting back won't cut it!! What needs to be done is to CUT OFF the ROOT of the Problem.
And the GOOD NEWS is....it can be done....it's done everyday by patients. Not only are they preventing and reversing heart disease, but remember, eating this way prevents obesity, cancers, stroke, diabetes, kidney diseases, etc., as well as all the chronic illnesses such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraines, GI issues, acne, allergies...the list just keeps on going.
It really is time for a change. Experts are now telling us this is the first generation of children that WILL NOT out-live their parents....for the first time in history.....this is not the natural order of things. Our children are to out-live us. We need to live by example.....we need to start feeding ourselves and our children the most healthy diet that we know of and that is a Whole-Food Plant-Based diet. We need to STOP putting all that saturated fat and cholesterol-laden foods into our body's and instead flood ourselves with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber and phytonutrients for optimal health.
Once you begin to eat this way, the changes you will experience are nothing short of miraculous. I have no other word to describe the way you will feel, the energy you will have, the weight you will lose and the medical issues you can finally GET RID OF.....WITHOUT EXPENSIVE MEDICATION that comes packaged with a host of side-effects!
Be an example instead of a warning as the quote above states....be an example of how healthy your life can be.....if you lead, people will follow.
