THE WINNER IS....

The food with the highest concentrated source of cholesterol is...eggs.  The egg industry doesn't want to hear that....they would rather blame the meat industry for having the most cholesterol.  The egg industry may have a point...if you eat brain.  You see, brain is the Number One source of concentrated cholesterol, but who eats beef brains, chicken brains, veal brains, etc.??  I'm sure some people do, but for the most part, the majority of Americans eat eggs, and eggs are the Number One source of concentrated cholesterol in the American diet.

But what about omega-3s.....the egg industry is "adding" omega-3s into the eggs to make Americans "healthier".  Are you kidding??  The industry is trying to get the chickens to eat flaxseeds which gives the chickens omega-3s, and therefore their eggs have omega-3s.  However, the egg still comes LOADED with cholesterol.....why not just put flaxseeds on your cereal or oatmeal and leave  the chicken out of the meal entirely?

There was a review published last year by the Stroke Prevention and Atherosclerosis Center which was devastating to the egg industry...they advised people to keep their consumption of cholesterol intake to under 200 mg per day...one egg has 212 mg of cholesterol...above the "normal" limit.  And, who eats one egg when making an omelet?  (Not to mention the cheese that typically goes along with it...but cheese is a whole different subject!).

In my opinion, we shouldn't be eating any cholesterol.  Our body makes all the cholesterol it needs to function properly...any extra just causes trouble.  It clogs our arteries...not only in the arteries to our heart, but in the arteries in our neck which puts people at a high risk of strokes, and in the arteries of our legs which causes peripheral vascular disease which causes people all kinds of pain...constant pain.  Cholesterol clogs arteries everywhere in the body...it doesn't just pick and choose certain parts.

So, the egg industry comes back with, "the guidelines are too restrictive...with those guidelines people can't even eat just one egg".  THAT'S THE POINT!  Eggs are not healthy!!  The egg industry goes on to say that only people with a risk of developing heart disease should avoid eggs.  Well, that's ALL OF US.  Everyone is at risk of getting heart disease if we are eating a diet rich in animal products--animal products are loaded with cholesterol...eggs come from a chicken....eggs are the most concentrated source of cholesterol....eating foods with cholesterol puts EVERYONE AT A HIGH RISK OF developing HEART DISEASE.  Really....are these educated people dishing out this advice??

The lead researcher of this study stated exactly that....the only people that should be eating eggs are those that expect to die prematurely.  He went on to say, "the only people that should be eating eggs are those dying of a terminal illness, because at that point, who cares?"

In their landmark review, they concluded, that waiting for your first stroke, heart attack or diabetes diagnosis to avoid eggs is too late.  They conclude, "stopping egg consumption after a heart attack or stroke would be like quitting smoking after a diagnosis of lung cancer, a NECESSARY ACTION, but late."

If you just cannot live without having eggs as part of your diet, then I suggest eating just the egg whites.  Make an omelet with egg whites loaded with all kinds of vegetables and spices...leave the artery-clogging yolk out.  I personally do not eat any part of an egg, but I know some people have to include eggs in their diet.

Remember, pay attention to where you are getting your information.   The egg industry will do whatever they have to do to protect their bottom line--money. It has been reported that they even went as far as trying to get their scientists "friends" to skew the information that came out of the scientific studies proving how detrimental eggs are to our health.  However, reputable scientific researchers will not LIE, and that's what they would have had to do.  Instead, the egg industry does their best to keep this type of information under wraps.

After all....they have to protect their bottom line......
