Never being sick is unheard of, not to mention, I work in a medical practice treating all kinds of sick people everyday. I go through flu-season every single year without taking a flu shot...I don't NEED one...my immune system is more powerful than is comprehensible. How many people can say that?
Forget about getting "sick", what about all the chronic diseases that so many people have? We have come to accept high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis, GI problems, heart disease, cancer and every other disease as "acceptable".....this comes "with age"..."well, you are getting older now"....blahblahblah....DON'T FALL FOR THESE EXCUSES!!! Disease does NOT come with age, it is not "normal" to have any one of these diseases or ailments! Of course, if you are diagnosed with some sort of "condition", the doctor will automatically write you a permission slip (prescription) allowing you to continue to do what you're doing, but take this pill. THE ONLY THING THAT PILL IS DOING IS TREATING THE SYMPTOMS....you have done NOTHING to STOP the CAUSE of the problem.
How do we take control of our health, PREVENT disease from starting, STOP disease from progressing, and REVERSE the damage that may have already been done? The answer is so simple that many people just don't believe it....it's ALL about the FOOD we choose to eat. Of course, there are other contributing factors to many different diseases such as smoking, drinking alcohol excessively, taking drugs, etc. We all know the harm each one of these lifestyles can cause, but many people just have no clue as to what the FOOD they are eating can cause. We can literally either CREATE health or disease with the food that we eat.
To create health, which is everyone's goal, all you have to do is eat loads of vegetables, fruits, beans, whole-grains and small amounts of nuts and seeds. Avoid the foods that cause us the DISEASE--animal products and processed foods. Fill your grocery cart with foods found in the produce aisle, foods that come without labels, foods that have no artificial anything in them......nature created food this way, there is NOTHING ELSE required!! The vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals you will be feed your body will COMPLETELY turn your health around. These POWERFUL substances found in plants will prevent disease from starting, stop the progression of disease, and many times reverse any damage
that may have already been done.
People truly do not know how POWERFUL nutrition can be--if you are eating the "right" foods and eliminate the foods that cause disease, you create HEALTH. If you are eating the foods that cause disease to begin with, (animal products and processed foods), you will create problems. I can honestly tell you, I see people my age (older than 45) everyday in the medical practice I work in that look, feel and have the disease states of people at least 10 years old than they are. Many people have all kinds of issues from being extremely tired, fatigued, no energy, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, aches and pains, not to mention disease states such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancers--I'm TELLING you it DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY!! This can all be PREVENTED!
And people ask ME if I'm sick of eating a Whole Food Plant Based diet.........
What I had for dinner last night: (Made from whatever veggies I had in the refrigerator)
yellow bell pepper, chopped
red onion, chopped
yellow squash, thinly sliced
marinara sauce, (my own version)
"cheese" sauce (recipe to follow)
Lay the collard leaf out flat and "slice" the stem so the leaf becomes flexible. Spread marinara sauce all over the leaf and start piling the vegetables on top. Pour the "cheese sauce" over everything. Roll the collard leaf into a "burrito" and eat. This was absolutely delicious!!
Marinara sauce: I make a big batch and freeze in zip lock bags. I start with chopped onions and garlic, saute in a pan with a small amount of water. Watch the onions and garlic carefully and continue to add tiny amounts of water until they have softened. Then I throw in shredded carrots and celery and continue to saute with water. Once everything is soft, I throw in my tomatoes, (I am fortunate enough to have a big garden full of tomatoes, if you don't, use canned) and whatever seasonings I have...oregano, basil, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, etc., and let it simmer. I happen to like my marinara sauce thick, so I let this cook down quite a bit.
Cheese sauce: 7/8 cup of water, 3/4 cup of raw cashews, 1/3 cup nutritional yeast (or more, depending on how "cheesy" you like your sauce). Blend all ingredients in a blender and you have cheese sauce. This is delicious!! Put it on anything your heart desires---pasta, raw or steamed vegetables...anything!
