The good news is, cholesterol levels can be dropped significantly WITHOUT medication and all the side effects that go along with it. Our bodies produce all the cholesterol we need, we do not have to ingest one more bite of it. Where does cholesterol come from? Cholesterol comes from meat, dairy and oil....when I say oil, that means olive, canola, vegetable, peanut....it doesn't matter, oil is oil, oil creates cholesterol just like meat and dairy. Period.
So, how can we drop our cholesterol without medication? Very simply....cut out meat, dairy and oil....cholesterol problem is solved. Now, the problem is this...when I tell people no meat, dairy and oil, they think that means instead of eating meat 7 days a week, they will be able to eat it 4 days a week and bring their cholesterol numbers down....or they can have cheese a few times a week....everything in moderation, right? WRONG!! Eating this way will not bring your numbers down drastically. I see it happen all the time..people make small changes in their diets, repeat their blood work and are disappointed with their results, throwing their hands in the air giving up. Small changes in your diet will not give you huge results.
However, eliminating the cholesterol causing foods and substituting them for vegetables, fruits, beans, legumes and whole-grains will. The people that really take on this challenge get the results they are looking for....their numbers drop like a rock....WITHOUT MEDICATION! Research has shown people with blocked arteries due to plaque formation, dramatically change their diet, resulting in their arteries opening up and the plaque disappearing. These results have been shown just by changing diets, exercise was not part of the equation. I'm not saying you shouldn't exercise, everyone should exercise everyday, but the research I'm referring to was using diet alone.
As I have said before, there are so many websites available with really good recipes you can try. Don't look at this like what you're giving up, look at this as trying all different kinds of new foods and recipes....this can be as creative or simple as you want it to be. Once you give your body all the nutrition it has been lacking and no longer feed it processed, sugary, salty, fatty foods, your body will reward you beyond your imagination....I witness it everyday.
