People ask me all the time WHY I am so passionate about this way of eating. Well, let me tell you..according to the Center for Disease Control, the top 10 killers in America are: #1. Heart disease #2 Cancer #3 COPD #4 Stroke #5 Accidents #6 Alzheimer's disease #7 Diabetes #8 Influenza and pneumonia #9 Kidney disease #10 Suicide.
Now, except for the #5 and #10 reasons, which I do not have control over, I am here to tell you, this way of eating can prevent, stop the progression of, and reverse the other 8 reasons!! The way you eat can prevent, and if you already have a medical issue, you can stop any further damage from being done, and most of the time, REVERSE the medical condition. The doctors I spoke about in the beginning have the patients to prove this. What other "diet" out there has the scientific evidence to back this up?? That's why I am so passionate about this way of eating...not only does the weight just come off, but, your health can be restored!
The beauty of eating a Whole Food Plant Based diet is no matter what medical condition you may have, (or maybe you have no medical issues at this point), this way of eating prevents diseases from starting, heals, cures, and nourishes your body with the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc., that our bodies have been missing. Once we flood ourselves with all these high quality foods, i.e., vegetables, fruits, beans, legumes, and whole grains, our bodies begin to heal itself. We need to get rid of all the artificial foods, processed foods, fast foods and animal products, (which come packaged with saturated fat and cholesterol, not to mention the antibiotics and steroids pumped into these poor animals), and replace them with Whole Foods. The difference you will feel by eating this way is absolutely AMAZING!! This is why I eat this way, this is WHY I promote a Whole Foods Plant Based diet, and this is WHY I tell anyone that wants to lose weight, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, lower blood sugar, get off medications, stop--prevent the progression of--and reverse damage that has been done-- EAT A WHOLE FOOD PLANT BASED DIET. Your body will reward you, I promise.
Ok, so we are on Day 7...the menu today looks like this:
Breakfast: Tofu breakfast scramble
Lunch: Artichoke hearts and tomato salad
Snack: Fresh berries
Dinner: Israeli couscous with carrots, peas and red wine vinegar and seared cauliflower with garlic and tamari
Remember, feel free to substitute what you have on hand. However, TRY these recipes, they are SO GOOD! I like to make the dishes according to the recipe the first time around, and then if need be "tweak" it to fit you preferences. The majority of the time, I don't need to change anything.
So, drink, exercise, and eat lots of vegetables, fruits, beans, and whole grains, (for weight loss just watch the amount of whole grains you're eating) and push out the artificial foods, processed foods, and animal products from your diet and you will be well on your way to a happier, healthier, thinner, YOU.
