How's exercising going? Try to do some kind of exercise for at least 30 minutes each day, that's it, 30 minutes. For those who are able to put in more time exercising, more calories burned!
When following a Whole Food Plant-Based diet, there is no need to count calories, carbs, fats, etc. Your diet will consist of vegetables, fruits, beans, legumes and whole grains. Because you are eating nutrient dense foods which are low in calories, there is no need to count anything. You just need to eat a variety of foods listed above and your body will respond in miraculous ways. Unfortunately, the Standard American Diet, (SAD) is devoid of nutrient dense foods, (a variety of greens, vegetables, fruits, beans, legumes and whole grains) and full of animal products, artificial ingredients, packaged foods, convenience foods and fast foods. This is why we are overweight, obesity and diabetes are now epidemics, we have become a "sicker" society, we have no energy or stamina, and, let's not forget, heart disease and cancer are more prevalent now than ever before. When you give your body what it needs, your body will heal itself.
Ok, so the meal plan for Day 4 is:
Breakfast: Cereal with Almond milk, (or any plant milk), with fresh or frozen berries
Lunch: Vegan cup of soup with White Bean Hummus with Fresh Thyme and Basil with Whole Grain bread
Snack: Carrot and apple
Dinner: Greens with a grain and beans or leftover Quick Black Bean Chili and a huge salad
Experiment with different grains and beans. For instance, quinoa, (pronounced keen-wa) is a whole grain. It is the king of grains because it is considered a complete protein. It takes on the taste of whatever you cook with it. If you eat it plain (which is fine), it is bland. However, when you make it and mix in scallions, onions, garlic, etc, it is very good and extremely good for you. Cook it in place of oatmeal for a change and mix in cinnamon, apples, raisins, or any other fruit you wish, the possibilities are endless. You need to experiment with it...also there is a boat load of recipes using quinoa...one of my favorite recipe sites is Straighupfood.com.....
As you can see, this plan is eliminating animal products which are so bad for your health. By eating this way, your cholesterol will drop like a rock, your blood pressure will come down, if you have diabetes your blood sugar will come down to normal, and, best of all, most people will be able to come off their medications, (of course with the advise from their doctor). And let's not forget, YOUR WEIGHT WILL CONTINUALLY DROP!! There is nothing more motivating than your clothes getting too big....
So, today we will drink, drink, drink and get at least 30 minutes of some kind of exercise. Go to the 21 Day Vegan Kickstart website to get the recipes for today's meals. Also, check out some of the other recipes from Straightupfood.com or any other Vegan website...just type in Vegan recipes and you will be amazed at the variety you have to choose from.
Give me some feedback....let me know what you think!! HAPPY EATING!!!
