Ok...today's tip: DON'T DRINK YOUR CALORIES! Let's start with soda...The sugar and calories in regular soda pack on so many empty calories. Some of the massive size sodas have close to 500 calories..not to mention all the corn syrup that is in them...when factory farms want to fatten their cattle, they feed them corn..so when you are eating or drinking anything with corn syrup, think about that. Not only is corn syrup extremely fattening, it is absolutely detrimental to your health.
Now let's discuss diet soda...you haven't dodged the problem. You are drinking all that artificial sweetener, which for one, the researchers report that those sweeteners whet our appetite for MORE SWEET. Also, there is so much scientific evidence out there pointing to all kinds of health problems, including cancers, caused by artificial sweeteners. Your body just doesn't know how to handle these artificial invaders.
So, to kick this soda habit once and for all, try drinking some other naturally flavored, noncaloric drinks. By naturally flavored, I mean putting some kind of fruit in your water. If you want something with carbonation, try seltzer water with lime or lemon juice squeezed in it. Or, how about herb teas? Green tea is filled with antioxidants; I personally try to drink 4 cups of green tea with honey everyday...the health benefits are amazing!
I just want to briefly talk about juice drinks. Unfortunately, juice has exactly the same number of calories, and, the same amount of simple sugars, as a SODA. If you want fruit, (which we all should be eating everyday), eat fruit, the whole piece of fruit, not extracted and manipulated juice.
OK, the meal plan for Day 3:
Breakfast: Oatmeal with cinnamon/apples/banana
Lunch: Blue Corn Chip Salad
Snack: Red or Green Pepper strips
Dinner: Quick Black Bean Chili with a mixed green salad and vegetables. (Please when choosing greens for your salad, say away from iceburg lettuce, there really is no nutritional value in it. Choose any other kind, Romaine is my personal favorite, but try them all and don't be afraid to mix them up. The more greens you get in, the more your body will reward you!!) EXERCISE TODAY...no excuses...30 minutes of something: walking, use a treadmill, pop in an exercise tape, there is a 24 hour exercise channel on Time Warner Cable with anything from Yoga to Advanced body workouts...when your done exercising, you will feel WONDERFUL!
