One of the most SURPRISING facts to the majority of people I teach is--You can eat all the potatoes you want!!

How can that be?? Potatoes will make you fat, they are full of carbs, they are horrible for weight loss--All of these statements are FALSE!  Potatoes really are the "Perfect Food" for anyone wanting to LOSE weight.  As a matter of fact, there are so many people that are doing or have done the "potato diet"--these people have gotten their calories basically from potatoes--they have made potato meals out of, of course, potatoes, and added different vegetables.  Their meals would like something like this:  hashbrown scramble in the morning, (hashbrown potatoes, chopped up onions, peppers, mushrooms), fries for lunch with dipping sauces, and roasted potatoes with all kinds of roasted veggies for dinner.

Potatoes are so versatile--you can bake them, roast them, boil them, "fry" them, mash them--there are so many different ways to eat them.  Now, I'm not saying we should only eat potatoes, BUT, so many people have lost so much weight eating potatoes.  Of course, I'm not talking about slathering butter, sour cream, cream cheese, cheese or bacon on potatoes--you absolutely will not lose weight doing that, but, you can make all kinds of dipping sauces, (including "cheese sauce"), salsa, oil-free pesto, homemade dressings, etc.  You can make so many meals out of potatoes--potato tacos, potato pizza, loaded baked potatoes, mashed potatoes with vegetables and cheese sauce.....the list just goes on!

And, how CHEAP are potatoes?  Dirt cheap!!  This is a money-saving way of life, potatoes are one of the healthiest foods on the planet and you lose weight eating them.

Here's the nutrition facts for 1 pound of white potatoes:  258 calories/0.37 g of fat/0 gr saturated fat/0 cholesterol/1502 mg potassium/8.9 grams of fiber and 6.2 grams of protein!

Nutrition facts for 1 pound of sweet potatoes:  390 calories/0.06 g of fat/0 g of saturated fat/0 cholesterol/438 mg of potassium/3.9 grams of fiber and 2.04 grams of protein!

Nutrition facts for 5 oz of lean beef:  285 calories/18.02 grams of fat/7.268 grams of saturated fat (killer fat)/67 mg of cholesterol/447 mg of potassium/28 grams of protein/0 fiber

So, take a look at these facts:  you can eat one pound of potatoes vs less than half a pound of beef--the potatoes are giving you basically NO FAT, SATURATED FAT, or cholesterol, they are LOADED with fiber and potassium and will keep you FULL and SATISFIED.  The beef--LOADED with FAT and SATURATED FAT, comes packaged with cholesterol and ZERO FIBER!  Not to mention, how full and satisfied will you be after the 5 oz piece of beef?  Let's not lie to ourselves--who eats 5 oz of beef and is full?  Steak houses love to advertise their 24 oz cuts of beef for their steak lovers.....

Here are three GREAT potato recipes I would love you to try--SIMPLE, QUICK and DELICIOUS!!  If you try one or all of them, let me know what you think!
