CHEESE....FACTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW......

Cheese....who doesn't LOVE it?  We put it on pizza, pasta, potatoes, vegetables...after all, everything and anything tastes better with CHEESE!!  I think we all can agree on that.

However, let me just give you a few FACTS about the food we all love:
  • Cheese is made from milk, bacteria and rennet (enzyme from the 4th stomach of a baby calf, which of course had to be killed to get the rennet).  However, because it's so "expensive" to get this rennet, industry now has genetically modified the rennet, (artificial), so you are now eating a genetically modified "food".
  • 70% of the calories from chesse is FAT.
  • Cheese is EXTREMELY high in calories, fat, protein and SODIUM
  • Cheese causes the fat to build up inside our cells which slows down metabolism
  • Cheese has a LOT of sodium packed in it .... 2 oz of cheese, tiny amount....350 mg of sodium
Even though we know these facts, why is it so hard to get cheese out of our diet?  When I started following a Whole Food Plant Based diet, I first eliminated all processed foods--anything in a box, bag, carton, package--with an ingredient list a paragraph long--then, after I had that mastered, I went on to eliminating all meat--beef, chicken, pork, and all fish--not too bad for me, although I have to say I missed meatballs for the longest time--then lastly, I had to get the dairy out of my diet which was extremely hard for me--especially cheese and yogurt--two of my most favorite foods!  But why was this so hard?

Well, after researching and educating myself on this, it turns out that there is casomorphine in cheese--this is a substance that hits our brain receptors just like cocoaine would do--it is VERY addicting.  It's so addicting, that the Dairy Industry and the US government decided to "team up" with fast food chains such as Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Taco Bell and Subway, and come up with fast food items such as Cheddar Lover's Bacon Cheese Burgers, Cheese Lover's Personal Pan Pizzas, etc., etc., load these foods up with insanely amounts of cheese, and guess what.....consumers just can't get enough of this.  The Dairy Industry makes millions of dollars every year just by selling all this cheese to fast food chains....and of course, consumption will continually go up because everyone LOVES cheese.  

Cheese is NOT A HEALTH FOOD, much to our dismay....I know, I get it.  As I told you, it is LOADED with CALORIES, especially FAT calories, causes fat to build up inside our cells putting you at a very high risk of type 2 diabetes, (which is 100% preventable), has a lot of sodium in it, slows our metabolism down, and has casein in it which is the protein found in dairy that is an extremely high carcinogenic substance.  

Once you are able to cut cheese out of your diet, (no cheating), your craving will disappear--but you can't just eat "a little", that craving will NEVER go away.  Cut cheese out completely, no more cravings.
