WHY A PLANT-BASED DIET?

With all the daily confusion surrounding nutrition, you may be asking yourself WHAT TYPE of "diet" should I be following for optimal health AND weight loss?  What a GREAT question.

When I am teaching people the reasons WHY a plant-based diet is the BEST diet to follow, I always start with, "Why should you be listening to me about nutrition?  The answer is because I follow the science.  Everything I tell you can be scientifically backed, and the results thousands of people get have been proven over and over again".

A plant-based diet is the ONLY diet that has been scientifically proven to STOP heart disease in it's tracks and REVERSE IT!  It's the ONLY diet that has been scientifically PROVEN to REVERSE early stage prostate cancer!  (Dr. Dean Ornish from Berkely in California).  Heart disease and cancer--two major killers in the United States--can be stopped and reversed with a plant-based diet.  

I choose to tell you about heart disease and cancer because they are the top killers in this country.  However, this way of eating can normalize blood pressure and get you off medication, reverse type 2 diabetes, bring down cholesterol and triglycerides, stop acid reflux enabling you to get off medication, (physicians are back peddling with the drugs Omeprazole and Zantac--the generic Zantac which is Ranitidine is causing all kinds of problems in people, as is Omeprazole), and the list goes on.  Of course, reducing and eliminating medications is done with the help of your physician.

Health should be our number 1 priority--without our health we have absolutely nothing.  Learning how to shop and meal prep for this lifestyle is not rocket science.  It takes a little planning and effort as you do need to prepare the bulk of your food at home.  However, when you come up with a plan to shop and prepare your food for the week, this way of eating is SIMPLE. You don't need to be following complicated recipes--the food you eat can be prepared quickly and with a little practice, will be DELICIOUS!  I can help you with all this.

Besides REVERSING heart disease and prostate cancer, Dr. Ornish and his team have several studies published proving by eating this way disease-causing genes can be turned off and disease-fighting genes can be turned on.  WHAT???  Absolutely!!  Your genes are NOT YOUR DESTINY.  As Dr. Ornish has proven, certain foods will turn on disease-causing genes--processed foods and animal products are the two big categories. 

The foods that turn-on disease-fighting genes--you guessed it--a whole food plant based diet.  We all have the genes we are born with--there's nothing we can do about that.  BUT, we have the POWER to keep the "bad" genes at bay as well as the POWER to turn on the genes that will keep us healthy and strong.  Again....do your research....this is evidence based medicine at its best!!
